The Ability Center is our pick for the December Charity in Bloom! We’ve had so much fun this year with our first year of the program!

Through our Charity in Bloom program, Beautiful Blooms by Jen is proud to contribute during the month of December to The Ability Center, 20% of the proceeds from a specially created floral arrangement. Please check out the beautiful arrangement below.

The Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a non-profit Center for Independent Living (CIL) serving Northwest Ohio. The Ability Center believes in and supports equitable and inclusive communities for people living with disabilities.

The mission of The Ability Center is to assist people with disabilities to live, work and socialize within a fully accessible community.

We chose this gorgeous arrangement of winter foliages, burgundy candles, red and green apples, leucadendron and hypericum berries because we thought it was the perfect winter centerpiece that can be used for any occasion. It could be sent through the whole month of December because it is so long lasting!

Each month we choose a different non-profit to support as our Charity In Bloom. We love to support organizations that also support Beautiful Blooms by Jen.

Here at Beautiful Blooms by Jen we like to stay on the cutting edge of trends and education so we took a road trip to one of our wholesale houses. For those who do not know, wholesale houses are pretty much a florist’s candy shop. They have everything there from vases, decor, and fresh flowers. Since it was my first trip to one as the newest employee at BBBJ, my favorite was touring through the cooler. There were flowers that I recognized, but in colors that I never knew were available. Here are some of the highlights just from the cooler alone!

Nice bright yellow/orange to shake up the darker fall arrangements!

Soft pink tulips with dusty blue/green may hint to spring but still cold like winter.

We use hydrangea all the time for weddings but is this not just the greatest color combo of green and pink!

I just love the wide assortment of fillers and the colors they are available in.

I know that was a lot of photos, what can I say I live behind the camera! Sorry about the photo quality on some of these, that is the downside to spending too much time in a cooler!

After the tour of the cooler we spent some time wandering the vast aisles of everything you could ever think of! There were vase’s in all colors, sizes, and shapes. Rows dedicated to different types and colors of ribbon. Everything a florist could ever need or want!

We also watched a design show focusing on the upcoming fall season and a transition to winter arrangements. They had the most impressive silk flowers that I have ever seen.  They looked so real! My favorite part of the demonstration was watching the florist create arrangements on the spot just for us. I couldn’t believe how fast they designed! Definitely something I need to work on.

Wholesale houses are a business to business organization, sadly the public can not just go in and purchase items. But stop in to Beautiful Blooms by Jen and see our new items! We were inspired by the arrangements we viewed and are ready to create a masterpiece just for you!
