We had such a blast at our Beautiful Blooms by Jen Christmas Centerpiece Class tonight at Element 112! This class was a Blooms and Brews class which included a burger, a beer and a holiday centerpiece. We had 26 people sign up and it was a full house!

We started out by filling in with an assortment of winter greenery that included cedar, fir and boxwood. Then we added in gorgeous holiday ribbon, red roses and pinecones. Everyone had their own artistic flair and we love how everyone’s turns out a little bit different.

Future Florist, Madeline, joined us today to help pass out flowers. She is my manager, Colleen’s, daughter. I think her favorite part was carrying around our sample centerpiece for everyone to see.

After we made our gorgeous arrangements, we enjoyed a gourmet hamburger from Element 112. If you haven’t tried one yet, they are the special on Tuesday night!

My husband’s Grandma came with my husband’s cousin, Cory. It was so fun that they joined us! What a fun experience with your Grandma!

Jen’s mom came to her first design class with some of her neighbor friends!

On the right, Traci Retholtz, from Sands of Thyme Faux Florals.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended tonight! Many of you were class repeaters and for some, this was their second class of the season! We also loved hearing that some of you have made our class a Christmas tradition and we love that your groups are growing!

We love teaching classes at Beautiful Blooms by Jen! As the only certified florist in Northwest Ohio, Jen also has a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education and a Masters in Career Technical Education. We had such a fun time at Element 112 for our Blooms and Brews Thanksgiving Centerpiece design class on November 20th. The ladies did a wonderful job designing their centerpiece in a wood box!

We began our Thanksgiving Centerpieces by adding pittosporum, a beautiful greenery to cover our floral foam and create and elongated centerpiece.

After we added greenery to the base of our arrangement, to cover our oasis, we added sunflowers.

The view from the other end of the table. Everyone added their orange carnations after their sunflowers.

Then we learned how to wire silk leaves and add them to fill in our holes.

Adding mums to tie everything together and fill in the last of our holes.

Everyone did such a great job and everyone had a great time. Of course, our burgers were delicious from Element 112 and Bubbles was the hit drink of the night! If you haven’t tried it, we definitely recommend it. Tastes more like champagne than beer!

If you’re interested in a centerpiece class, we already have our holiday centerpiece class planned. It is the same format as the one above, but a holiday centerpiece with winter greenery. For more info or to sign up, click here.

We also had a Turkey Succulent Kid’s Class the day before Thanksgiving at Beautiful Blooms by Jen. We remembered to take a few pictures and they turned out so cute!

The first step was to add the feathers to the terra cotta pots.

After designing the turkey’s face, the kids planted a succulent inside.

These girls were so creative!

These turkey succulents turned out so cute!

We have many other kid’s classes coming up in December. We have our free Red Bird Painting class during the Red Bird Art Walk from 5-7pm on December 7th. Please register here so we have enough supplies.

There are also two classes on December 15th. These also need to be pre-registered for. Kids can come to the store between 9-11am and design 2 reindeer pinecones for $5 or a red mason jar centerpiece for $15. These are perfect gifts for parents, teachers and grandparents!

We had such a great time at our Blooms and Brews Floral Design class on Friday! We hosted our class at Element 112, during the First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Sylvania. The theme this month was Red, White and Brew and so we wanted to pair with Element so they could provide the burgers, beer and Beautiful Blooms by Jen provided the blooms!

We decided to teach how to design a “just picked” arrangement in a mason jar using many locally grown flowers so that our students would feel comfortable picking flowers out of their garden and filling their mason jar again.

Blooms & Brews- Floral Design class using local and seasonal flowers

The ladies arrived and we had cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30 where we ordered our burgers and beers and mingled.

Blooms & Brews- Floral Design class using local and seasonal flowers

These burgers were so good! Element 112 has a Tuesday night Burger and Beer special you definitely need to check out! Colleen and I recommend the Bubbles beer!

After we enjoyed our burgers, Colleen and I passed out the tools, mason jars, and buckets of flowers. We began our arrangements by adding greenery like a grid. Then we added our larger flowers and finished with our fun textures. It was so fun watching everyone design their arrangements and seeing how they all turned out.

Each bucket had the same flowers, but the sunflowers were either traditional yellow, or a new white sunflower that we just discovered in the last few weeks! With everyone receiving the same instruction, it is so fun to see everyone’s creativity shine through!

We were so excited to offer this super fun wine and design floral design class for the first time right after Mother’s Day where Mom’s and daughters could come as an awesome Mother’s Day gift and make a super fun night out for ladies!  We chose Element 112 because they have fantastic food, drinks and their room, the Periodic Table is a room we’ve used before when delivering flowers for showers, parties and even a small wedding. It was the perfect setting!

The groups of ladies arrived at Element 112, in downtown Sylvania, for cocktail hour! They were served wine and beer and appetizers that were all included in their price of the class. Billie Jo, from Beauty by Billie Jo, was also on hand to help the ladies pick out the perfect lip stick color by LimeLight!  Then once everyone had the perfect lip, they were able to get their picture taken by the Toledo Goof Booth, by Love is Greater Photography!  Then to finish up cocktail hour, they were treated to desserts from So Sweet Pastries!

Colleen, from BBBJen, Billie Jo, from Beauty by Billie Jo, Jen from BBBJen and Stacey from Toledo Goof Booth

Then the designing began!  Beautiful Blooms by Jen’s Certified Florist, Jen Linehan instructed the ladies on how to create a pedestal centerpiece in whites, ivories and blushes and we finished them off with draping greenery and a succulent!  It was discussed that this would also be a super fun class for a bride and bridesmaids to come do and design the wedding centerpieces together!

All prepped and ready to go for class!

Cocktail hour while everyone admired their buckets of gorgeous flowers!

Beer and wine were included in the price of this design class.

After enjoying appetizers from Element 112 and dessert from So Sweet Pastries, we prepared to begin our floral designs.

We added our hydrangea first, and then our snapdragons.

What a great Mother’s Day gift!

The last thing we added to our designs was the greenery to fill in any holes we had and to add a romantic element.

The silver dollar eucalyptus was a hit!

This design class was also a super fun night out for girlfriends!

And Moms, daughters and Coworkers all together!

Love how much fun everyone had!

The finished project!

Check out more pictures from the Toledo Goof Booth!

We had so much fun hosting Colleen’s daughter Madeline’s Daisy troop.  The girls had so much fun creating ice cream sundaes out of flowers! We started out with an ice cream bowl and the girls learned about floral mechanics like creating a design in floral foam which is our water source. Then we added pink carnations, sprinkles and a cherry on top!

Floral sundaes with a cherry on top!  Aren’t they adorable?!

…They loved helping each other….just like good little scouts.

They couldn’t believe they had a glitter red handmade cherry to put on top!…

…Lots of future floral artist in this bunch.

…Daisy troop 12300, we loved having you in as Daisies and can’t wait to teach you more fun things about flowers as Brownies!

We love hosting Girl Scouts of all ages attaining different levels of badges. Call us to coordinate a time to bring your troop over to the shop to work towards their badge. We can help accommodate your budget. Typically classes are under $15 per child. We work with the troop leader to schedule a time that works best with your troop meeting! We are able to travel to your meeting location, but we prefer to host you at our store.  Our spring tends to fill up fast in between our wedding schedule so we advise planning a few months in advance.

We also love to host classes of any kind. As the only Certified Florists in Northwest Ohio, Jen Linehan, CF, CFD or one of our other talented designers will be your class instructor and all classes include all tools and supplies needed to make a gorgeous arrangement.
